Two Women
.  Digital Video. Color. Sound.  2:00 Minutes.  2000.

A man struts around. He removes his T-shirt, and throws it to the floor while eyeing a magazine cutout of a nude woman. She is hung dangling in the foreground, her scale shifting continuously as the camera moves back and forth. We hear two women's voices, one a voiceover of coaxing suggestions, the other a soundtrack of responsive moans and sighs. He responds to the directions of the real woman. He stalks, approaches, sizes up and then goes in for a kiss.

"Damn Spot". 2:50 Min. Color. Sound. 2000.

A man is seen first stalking then attacking a purple spot. His attempts to grasp it are repeated to the point of exhaustion, accompanied by the lyrics see me, feel me, touch me, can you hear me . . . can you . . . from the Who’s Tommy. The plaintive plea of the lyrics implores him to continue his efforts, daring him to make contact.

"Embrace". 2:20 Min. Color. Sound. 2000.

Embrace is an abrupt tragicomic scenario of a crash and burn love affair. A sequence of embraces escalates to a mounting weariness, accompanied by the reiterated refrain from the beginning of the Carpenter’s Superstar, suggesting the ersatz emotionality and temporality of the first fleeting moments of passion. One line of lyrics and a hysteric plea to the viewer delivers just one side of the story, and the consequent void.

Performers: Steven Rattazzi, Alix Pearlstein
